The right choice of pot size is of paramount importance for plants. It is a misconception that a larger pot is preferable. This is generally not true, because some varieties grow much better if they do not have as much space for their roots, because if the pot is large the root system develops better, tends to grow downwards towards the water, so the leaves and inflorescence develop less. Planting in pots of a suitable size for the stage of development will optimise inflorescence development and yield.
For annual fast-growing cultivars, transplanting three times is recommended.
